Gareth Owen was favourite of eight Welsh Premier League managers

Veteran Rhyl midfielder Gareth Owen has been named Principality Welsh Premier League Player of the Season ahead of 20-goal team-mate Neil Roberts.

The 37-year-old playmaker, a summer signing from Airbus, played a key part in Rhyl's title-winning campaign.

Defender George Horan made it a hat-trick for Rhyl as he was third behind striker Roberts in the managers' poll.

Haverfordwest and Welsh semi-pro goalkeeper Lee Idzi was honoured as the league's Young Player of the Year.
