Wales set Cardiff World Cup dates

Wales manager John Toshack
Toshack was keen on taking visitors away from Cardiff

Wales will play all their home games in 2010 World Cup qualifying at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

That is despite a plea from manager John Toshack to increase Wales' chances by taking matches to intimidating, small venues to discomfort visitors.

Wales begin their campaign at home to Azerbaijan on 6 September.

The other Millennium Stadium matches are against Liechtenstein (11 October), Finland (3 March), Germany (1 April) and Russia (9 September, 2009).

606: DEBATE
Football Association of Wales bosses are thought to have sympathised with Toshack's belief that venues like Wrexham's Racecourse Ground and Swansea's Liberty Stadium could have offered their team a better chance of success.

But Wales anticipate a minimum attendance of 25,000 for their qualifiers, around 10,000 more than either the Swansea or Wrexham grounds would be able to house, while the Millennium Stadium can hold over 70,000.
