Dean Holdsworth will add an experienced edge to Newport's attack

Holdsworth, 38, joins on a non-contract basis after leaving Conference outfit Cambridge United recently.

County boss Peter Beadle told the South Wales Argus: "We agreed a deal to sign Dean yesterday and I am delighted.

"The key factor in this deal for me is his massive desire to keep playing, he is 38 and doesn't need the money."

Holdsworth has also played for Watford, Brentford, Bolton, Coventry, Rushden, Havant and Waterlooville, Derby County and Weymouth in his 21-year career.
