The long running merger between TNS and Oswestry football clubs has finally been given the all clear. Oswestry's shareholders voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to transfer the club's remaining assets to TNS.
That includes the all-important clause allowing Oswestry to play in the Welsh system despite being based in England.
This now means that TNS owner Mike Harries can press on with his plans to build an all new 3,000-seater stadium for the club in Oswestry.
The new stadium would be one of three which the Welsh Premier is hoping to develop to meet Uefa requirements for hosting European club competition matches.
At the moment Welsh Premier clubs who play in the Champions League or Uefa Cup usually hold their games at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground, Ninian Park in Cardiff or Swansea's Vetch Field.
The merger was first proposed in the summer of 2003 but financial and legal problems have delayed the plans.
A group of shareholders objected to the fact that the Oswestry Town name would dissapear from the footballing map when the vote was taken in the AGM on Tuesday night.
But the majority voted to go through with the plans and create a new force in Welsh football.
