Cymru Alliance side Glantraeth have received a shock ticket to the quarter-finals of the Welsh Cup. Welshpool, who beat the Anglesey club in the fourth round, have withdrawn after discovering they had fielded an ineligible player in an earlier round.
Glantraeth will now play TNS away, and manager Paul Whelan said: "The players were so down after losing to Welshpool; they were there for the taking.
"So to get TNS away now is brilliant for the club and the players."
Welshpool's offending player was Gareth Barton, who had played for Newcastle Emlyn in a previous round.
But Welshpool say Barton did not tell them he had already played in the competition when he signed.
Steve Hughes, Welshpool chairman and managing director said: "The directors, officials, supporters and players are very disappointed that our cup run has come to an end.
"But the club believes that it must remain honourable and the Welsh FA were informed immediately.
"I do not believe that the player intended to misinform the club as he had not played for any other club for at least four months before signed for Welshpool Town.
"We are now out of the Welsh Cup, but there is always next year and now we can concentrate our efforts and resources on improving out position on the Welsh Premier League."
Glantraeth have already pulled off a major shock in this season's Welsh Cup when they beat Welsh Premier side Bangor City on penalties.
The quarter-final tie with TNS will be played on Saturday, 6 March.
