Wigan were dumped out of the Carling Cup as Championship side Blackpool ran rampant at Bloomfield Road.
Ishmel Demontagnac put the home side ahead with a low shot before keeper Mike Pollitt allowed a soft effort from Ben Burgess beyond him for the second.
Pollitt saved Charlie Adam's penalty on the half hour but the lively midfielder scored from the rebound.
Gary Taylor-Fletcher finished it from close range and Antonio Amaya's header at the death was little consolation.
