Martin Paterson struck twice to send Burnley through to the second round of the Carling Cup at the expense of Bury.
The Northern Ireland international made it three goals in two games since his summer move from Scunthorpe.
Burnley started well and the Clarets grabbed a deserved lead when the unmarked Paterson turned in Christian Kalvenes' left-wing cross.
Burnley sealed it when Paterson converted the rebound after Wayne Brown denied Eagles in the 90th minute.
