Plymouth eased past Doncaster and into the third round of the Carling Cup thanks to goals from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Luke Summerfield. Ebanks-Blake opened the scoring with a fine finish from the edge of the area and Argyle did not look back.
Doncaster rarely threatened but their keeper Neil Sullivan had to react quickly to deny Krisztian Timar.
Akos Buzaky also went close for the home side before Summerfield made it 2-0 with a curling free-kick.
