Craig Beattie scored a stunning winner to take West Brom into the second round of the Carling Cup. Beattie sidefooted a first-time volley back across goal and over the head of Bournemouth keeper Neil Moss from Jonathan Greening's cross.
Moss made a superb one-handed stop to deny Beattie a second and also made a fine save from Paul Robinson's header.
Darren Anderton shot wide for the Cherries while Nathan Ellington and Bostjan Cesar went close for West Brom.
