This season's Carling Cup final will provide a 70,000 boost to the BBC's Children in Need appeal. The Football League, with the support of the Premier League, will donate 1 for every ticket sold for February's final in Cardiff.
League chairman Brian Mawhinney said: "We're using the power of football to change children's lives."
The money raised will be presented to appeal host Sir Terry Wogan before the kick-off in the Millennium Stadium.
The Football League's previous money-raising initiatives for the BBC's appeal have included Money Can't Buy packages for the last three Carling Cup finals.
League Cup sponsors, brewers Carling are not able to be directly involved with activities involving children but have made their corporate ticket allocation available to supporters.
Lord Mawhinney added: "We have raised 30,000 for Children in Need over the past three years.
"We would like to thank the Premier League for helping us to make this happen and also, in advance, both finalists."
Sir Terry Wogan said: "The Football League have been among our greatest supporters for many years, and yet again they've scored for Children in Need."
In addition to the financial contribution, Football League clubs are offering free tickets to more than 800 matches as part of the League's Fans of the Future initiative.
