George McCartney is an injury worry for Northern Ireland's opening Euro 2012 qualifying game against Slovenia in Maribor on 3 September.
The Sunderland defender damaged knee ligaments in a pre-season game against Brighton in Portugal.
McCartney is likely to be ruled out for four to six weeks so he will miss the friendly international against Montenegro on 11 August.
The full-back has won 34 caps for Northern Ireland, scoring one goal.
