A Ciaran Caldwell strike gives Cliftonville a 1-0 win over HNK Cibalia in the Europa Cup qualifier first leg
Cliftonville achieved their first home win in Europe thanks to Ciaran Caldwell's 82nd-minute goal in the Europa League match at Windsor Park.
The decisive moment came when Liam Boyce's delightful back-heel found Chris Scannell and his attempt fell to Caldwell who slotted in from six yards.
Earlier in the second half George McMullan and Scannell had shots saved by Cibalia keeper Mladen Matkovic.
The second leg will be played in Croatia on 22 July.
The north Belfast side, runners-up in last season's Carling Premiership, will be hopeful of progressing to the third qualifying round after being the better team in this first leg.
Early on, McMullan's free-kick from 22 yards came off the top left of the crossbar. The rebound fell to Chris Scannell but the keeper cleared.
Cibalia's best effort was in the 14th minute when Dino Kresinger shot narrowly past keeper John Connolly's left post after a through ball from Ivan Baraban.
