A knee ligament problem has forced Celtic's Aiden McGeady to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad for games against Paraguay and Algeria.
Giovanni Trapattoni's men face Paraguay at the RDS on Tuesday and then Algeria at the sane venue three days later.
Both opponents are preparing for the World Cup finals in South Africa.
Trapattoni's original squad has been depleted by the loss of David Meyler, Darron Gibson, Stephen Ward and Caleb Folan through injury.
Keith Treacy has returned to Preston after having his hernia problem assessed.
Trapattoni will run the rule over his young hopefuls in a training game on Friday night.
They will play a the Republic's Under-23s - a side made up of the best players from Ireland's Airtricity League - in a behind-closed-doors match.
