Institute defender David Ogilby had a stoppage-time penalty saved as the first leg of the promotion/relegation play-off ended in stalemate.

Referee Brian Turkington awarded the penalty when Paul McVeigh handled from a Ryan Semple corner and the spot-kick was superbly saved by Declan Brown.

It was the DC keeper's eighth clean sheet in a row.

The deadlock means Friday's second leg at Drumahoe will decide who plays in the Carling Premiership next season.

In the first half McVeigh shot over after Tony Hegney had pulled back Stephen McAlorum's cross to the far post.

Then a mistake by Ian Curran let Institute's Sean Friars in but Barry Spence got back to make a good blocking tackle.

In the 64th minute full-back Thomas Lambe clipped the ball over Semple in the area and his half-volley was brilliantly saved by 'Stute keeper Gavin Cullen.
