Jonny Taylor is congratulated by Glentoran team-mate Colin Nixon
Goals in the second half by Jonny Taylor and Matty Burrows gave Glentoran the win which guarantees them a top three finish in the Premiership.
Taylor powered in a header in the 53rd minute from Kyle Neill's right-wing corner - his fifth goal of the season.
The Glens got their second 12 minutes later when Gary Hamilton whipped in a cross from the right and Burrows swept a first-time shot past David Miskelly.
Portadown have taken just three points from their last five league fixtures.
Ronnie McFall's men seem to be focused on the Irish Cup final on 8 May in which they play Linfield.
