Coleraine earned bragging rights with a 4-2 win over derby rivals Ballymena in an entertaining match at Warden Street.

Darren Boyce scored into the bottom corner on 11 minutes, Jody Tolan fired in a rebound after 27 and Rory Patterson made it 3-0 on 36 minutes.

Gary Muir hit the bar before Darren Lockhart found the net after 38.

Andy Smith found the net with a sweetly struck right-foot shot in the 53rd minute, Muir rattled the bar again, but Boyce finished from close range on 90.

Boyce met Marc Mukendi's pinpoint ball and cut inside Chris Ramsey before applying the finish for the opening goal.

Stephen Lowry had a shot saved but Tolan pounced to score from the rebound and Patterson took advantage of a poor backpass to record his 36th goal of the season.

Muir hammered the ball against the woodwork from distance, before veteran Lockhart gave the Sky Blues some hope.

Smith reduced United's deficit further and the striker then saw his header saved by Lawrence McCormick.

After Muir went close, Boyce secured three points for the Bannsiders with his second of the game.
