Jordan Baker and Kevin Braniff were on target for Portadown
Portadown leapfrogged Coleraine and into sixth place in the league with a win over the nine-man Bannsiders.
Kevin Braniff struck a fine opener but Darren Boyce headed Coleraine level.
Paddy McLaughlin of Coleraine was shown a red card as he was the last man when he brought down Jordan Baker who soon afterwards struck the Ports' second.
Keeper David O'Hare was sent-off on 69 minutes for elbowing Baker in the back after collecting the ball and Gary McCutcheon scored the penalty.
The result takes Portadown above Coleraine on goal difference in the battle to secure a top six finish in the Carling Premiership.
The Ports got off to a great start with a superb right-foot strike in the sixth minute by Braniff.
The former Millwall man completely fluffed his first attempt with his left, but made a sweet contact with the second from the edge of the penalty box.
But Coleraine hit back within two minutes. The Ports gave away possession deep in their own half and Stephen Lowry sent over a great ball for Boyce to head in at the back post.
More drama quickly followed as McLaughlin was sent-off for chopping down Baker as the young Ports forward raced through.
Coleraine had a claim for a penalty when Howard Beverland was pulled down as he went to meet a corner.
Baker made it 2-1 in the 28th minute, snapping up the loose ball after O'Hare had saved with a leg.
The dismissal of O'Hare and the subsequent penalty made the game safe for Portadown.
