Tam McManus scored a late equaliser to earn Derry City a 1-1 draw in their Setanta Sports Cup game with Linfield at Windsor Park on Saturday night.
Paul Munster gave the Blues the lead in the 14th minute with a glancing header from Michael Carvill's cross.
Thomas Stewart saw his 35th minute penalty saved by Alan Blayney after Aaron Burns had fouled City striker Mark Farren inside the area.
McManus fired home a right-foot shot in the 85th minute to level the score.
Earlier in the second half Billy Joe Burns saw his fierce drive well saved by Ger Doherty as he attempted to extend his side's advantage.
Linfield manager David Jeffrey was sent from the dugout five minutes from the end of the game for disputing the referee's decisions.
"I did not feel there was enough consistency in the decision-making," said Jeffrey after the match.
"We played some decent football in the first half but could have held onto the ball better and maybe put away a few other chances," he added.
