Neil McCafferty was successful from the spot for the Swifts
Dungannon moved to the top of the Carling Irish Premiership as Neil McCafferty's 77th-minute penalty earned the Swifts victory at Newry City.
The Swifts, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, are the only club in the Irish Premiership to have a 100 per cent record after three games.
Chris Morgan went close twice for Newry in a lacklustre first half.
McCafferty's winner came after David Munster had bundled over Shane Coney in the Newry penalty area.
The first-half action did little to excite the small crowd as both teams struggled to produce any enterprising football.
Stephen Garrett set up a chance for Alan Davidson in the ninth minute but the Newry player's shot was easily saved by Alvin Rouse.
Morgan was inches wide with a 25-yard lob a minute later and the veteran's shot across the face of goal on 20 minutes was the only other goal attempt during the first period.
Dungannon's goal came 13 minutes from time with McCafferty stroking home from the spot after Munster had clearly fouled Coney in the box.
