Cork City beat Glentoran in the 2008 Setanta Sports Cup final

The Setanta Sports Cup will take place next season despite the financial troubles of the sports broadcaster.

The draw for the All-Ireland club competition was postponed in June but will now be held on 28 July with the first games on August 29-30.

"All parties are happy to proceed with the tournament over the coming years," the Irish Football Association said in a statement on Sunday.

Five clubs from the Republic and four from Northern Ireland will take part.

"We are all very happy to be continuing with this great cross-community competition for another four years," said Milo Corcoran, Setanta Sports Cup chairman.

"Setanta have been very good partners of ours for the last four seasons and it is great for football in Ireland and for the two associations that Setanta Ireland will be able to work with us into the future."

However Linfield, former winners of the competition, have yet to confirm whether they will take part in the tournament.

They are understood to have concerns about the financial viability of the competition, and also the effect it will have on domestic league commitments.
