Curtis Allen beat two defenders before firing low into the bottom corner to give the Whites a ninth minute lead.
Darren Armour made it 2-0 after 38 minutes when the striker poked home after Allen's free-kick was knocked across the front of goal.
Crusaders pressed in the second half and Philip Matthews made a fine save to keep out Eamon Doherty's header.
The visitors went close on 27 minutes with Jamie Marks' shot striking Matthews and Distillery managing to clear from the rebound.
Allen failed to connect with Mark Cooling's cross before the break while the forward was denied by Aaron Kerr's save six minutes from time.
The victory takes Paul Kirk's team two points above Coleraine and now just four points behind Crusaders.
