Newry go through after goal blitz

Chris Morgan was among the scorers in the goal feast at Loughgall

Loughgall beat Newry City 6-5 in this amazing Co-Operative Insurance Cup quarter-final second leg but the visitors prevailed on away goals.

Matty Burrows and Alan Murphy struck early for Loughgall but Stephen Garrett and Chris Morgan made it 2-2 before Burrows sent the tie into extra-time.

Kevin Keegan levelled and Andy Brown put Loughgall ahead but Sean Friars and Richard Clarke hit back for City.

Paul Barron's late double made it 8-8 on aggregate as Newry edged through.

Burrows started the goalscoring on 11 minutes with a six-yard finish and Murphy's header (15) put the IFA Championship ahead over the two legs.

Garrett's (20) shot hit the underside of the bar before going in before a tap-in from Morgan (43) brought the teams level on the night.

Burrows netted from close range in the first minute of stoppage time and extra-time was required to find a victor.

Keegan's brilliant run and finish (96) was soon followed by a low drive from Brown (99) into the bottom corner.

Friars (111) managed to kick the ball into the net while on the floor and Clarke (115) converted a penalty.

Loughgall now needed three goals to go through and Barron's brace (118 & 120) proved to be in vain.
