Richard Clarke was expected to leave Newry City in January

Richard Clarke has decided to stay at Newry City for the rest of the season and then decide where his future lies.

City had agreed a fee with Linfield for the player, thought to be �20,000, but the midfielder will now remain at the Showgrounds until next summer at least.

Glentoran have also made inquiries about the player who has six months of his contract to run and was entitled to speak to other clubs in January.

Clarke is club captain at Newry and a Northern Ireland U21 international.
