Richard Gibson (left) battles for possession with Johnny Black
Gary Hamilton's introduction midway through the second turned this game in Glentoran's favour as they came from behind to beat Coleraine at the Oval.
The first half was forgettable with Coleraine easily containing the Glens.
Gareth Harkin put Coleraine ahead on 47 minutes after Elliott Morris had superbly saved Richard Gibson's header.
Great work by Hamilton helped Halliday head the Glens level on 63 minutes and a clever Hamilton knockdown enabled David Scullion to hit the winner on 73.
Hamilton is being linked with a possible move away from the Oval but the Northern Ireland international showed his undoubted class after his second-half introduction.
Glentoran had misfired in the opening half as the Coleraine defence had little difficulty in containing the home attack.
Andrew Waterworth had a half-chance for the Glens in the first half but the impressive Kyle McVey got in a last-ditch challenge.
Coleraine took the lead on 47 minutes with Harkin firing home from an acute angle after Morris had saved Gibson's pointblank header.
The Bannsiders could have added to their lead but Sean Ward got in a great tackle to deny Gibson.
However, the introduction of Scullion, Dean Fitzgerald and, especially Hamilton, rejuvenated the Glens.
All three were involved in the move which led to Halliday's 63rd-minute equaliser with Hamilton's delightful pass to Scullion the key to the goal.
Halliday then went close to hitting a second Glentoran goal but the home side did take the lead on 73 minutes with Scullion half-volleying home after Hamilton's clever nod-down.
Coleraine produced some late pressure but Glentoran held on to claim a vital three points.
