Linfield score seven against Institute at Windsor Park
Linfield moved to the top of the JJB Premiership after thrashing Institute 7-0 at Windsor Park on Friday night.
Michael Carvill netted a brace in the 12th and 13th minutes and Glenn Ferguson scored with a header after 23.
Ferguson scored his second on 74 minutes and substitute Mark Miskimmin shot home on 86 minutes to make it 5-0.
Miskimmin added the sixth with a cool finish two minutes from time and then Ferguson completed his hat-trick with a near-post header in added time.
Carvill scored the opener after defender Billy Joe Burns squared the ball to the striker, who had the simple task of finishing from six yards out.
A minute later, the former Wrexham player latched onto a through ball from Damian Curran and raced through to shoot past Michael Doherty.
Ferguson got in on the act with his close-range header from Carvill's cross to ease the league champions further ahead.
The veteran forward then unleashed a shot which Doherty could only push onto the post and into the goal after Jamie Mulgrew had pulled the ball back to him inside the box.
Miskimmin found the net after holding off an Institute player and shooting across the face of goal and inside the post with four minutes remaining.
Miskimmin completed his double and then Mulgrew provided Ferguson with the cross for his third of the game late on.
