Stephen Garrett shot Newry into an early lead against Ballymena

Richard Clarke earned Newry a point by drilling the ball home from 12 yards after Michael Collins had headed back a corner from Ross Black on 89 minutes.

Stephen Garrett had given Newry the lead in the eighth minute, shooting past United goalkeeper Alan Blayney.

Neil Teggart levelled on 21 minutes, collecting a Gary Haveron through ball before dispatching a delightful shot past Paul Murphy from 18 yards out.

Haveron scored on 81 when the ball fell to him following a Stuart King corner.
