Thomas Stewart could soon be departing Windsor Park

Linfield are stepping up their hunt for a new striker as Thomas Stewart stalls on a new deal with the Blues.

"He was offered a new contract but we have not heard from him for some time so we will continue to look for a new forward," said boss David Jeffrey.

Linfield were interested in bringing Hamilton Academical's Andrew Waterworth back to the Irish League but the striker will be staying in Scotland.

"It seems Hamilton see him very much as part of their plans," added Jeffrey.

Jeffrey said the club had been approached by a third party about a possible return home for the former Lisburn Distillery player.
