Stephen Kenny's Derry won comfortably at the Brandywell
Derry City beat UCD 4-1 in Friday night's Eircom Premier League game.
Mark Farren scored the opener on two minutes, tapping in from two yards after Owen Morrison's shot was parried by visiting goalkeeper Billy Brennan.
Timmy Purcell fired past Gerard Doherty from 25 yards to equalise on 30 minutes after accepting a Derek Doyle pass.
Niall McGinn shot into the top corner after 49, Morrison scored with a free-kick from 25 yards on 57 minutes and Kevin McHugh netted on 92 minutes.
Gareth McGlynn provided the ball for McGinn's goal four minutes after the break and was then brought down to enable Morrison to shoot home his free-kick.
McGlynn was again the provider for McHugh, who fired a left-foot shot into the top corner.
Morrison and Conor Sammon went close in the first half and the Candystripes controlled second half proceedings at the Brandywell.
