Kyle McVey scored Coleraine's third goal from the penalty spot |
Coleraine fought back from a goal down to crush Institute in Tuesday's JJB Sports Irish Cup quarter-final replay at the Showgrounds. Graeme Philson nodded Institute ahead on four minutes but John Neill levelled on 13 minutes and Stephen Carson fired Coleraine ahead eight minutes later.
Kyle McVey added to Coleraine's lead from the penalty spot on 53 minutes.
Darren Cassidy's goal (65) ended any prospects of an Institute comeback and Jody Tolan (72) completed the scoring.
Institute got off to a great start with Philson heading home after a Steven Campbell free-kick.
But Coleraine were on terms by the 13th minute with Neill firing home from close range after Marty Hunter had headed back Stephen Carson's deep cross.
Provider Carson then turned finisher when he rounded Michael Doherty to slam to the empty net after being put through by Tommy McCallion.
Coleraine were in firm control when McVey struck a 53rd-minute penalty after Philson had hauled down Marty Hunter.
Cassidy struck Coleraine's fourth goal in the 65th minute after his initial shot had been blocked by keeper Doherty.
The impressive Carson had again been involved in the move for the fourth goal and he also set up the fifth with Tolan supplying the close-range finish.
