Ronnie McFall's side left it late at Limavady Showgrounds |
Late goals by Gary McCutcheon and Wesley Boyle earned Portadown the points at the Limavady Showgrounds. Paul Brown missed two first-half chances while Paul Gaston also headed over as lively Limavady had the better of the opening period.
Portadown improved after the break and Wesley Boyle went close although Barry Curran missed a great Limavady chance.
McCutcheon broke the deadlock six minutes from time and Boyle added the second four minutes later.
Portadown's opener came after Limavady goalkeeper Glenn Miller had blocked Gary Liggett's close-range effort.
Earlier in the second half, Millar had denied Boyle and McCutcheon in quick succession.
Marc McCann, who had gone close for the Ports in first-half injury-time, was the provider for Boyle's 88th-minute goal.
