Saturday's league match at New Grosvenor was abandoned |
The Irish Footbal Association has ruled that Lisburn Distillery and Ballymena United must replay their abandoned Carnegie Premier League fixture. Referee Arnold Hunter called a halt after 77 minutes of Saturday's match on safety grounds as a section of the floodlighting was not working.
Distillery had been leading 2-1 at the time and their manager Paul Kirk had called for the result to stand.
The IFA said the match must be replayed at New Grosvenor within 28 days.
Ballymena United secretary Don Stirling said the matter had been settled amicably and that they were satisfied with the IFA ruling.
Distillery manager Paul Kirk, however, said the decsion was a bitter pill to swallow but that they would have to accept it.
He had called for the result to be allowed to stand or for the sides to return to play out the remaining 13 minutes.
In Saturday's match, Gary Browne had given the Whites a 35th-minute lead, Gavin Melaugh netted the equaliser on 40 and then Johnny Flynn scored an own goal after 70.
