Holders Derry City crashed out of the FAI Ford Cup after Conor Salmon's 60th-minute goal earned UCD victory at the Brandywell. Moments before Salmon's goal, Mark Farren had missed a glorious chance for the Candystripes.
Kevin McHugh and Pat McCourt went close for Derry in the first half but the home side struggled for the most part.
Derry scarcely threatened after Salmon's goal as the home team's dismal season continued.
