Liam Beckett aims for a mid-table finish this season |
Institute are set to lift the curtain on their return to the Carnegie Premier League against Larne on Saturday and manager Liam Beckett cannot wait. "To be honest, I haven't seen a team better than us so far in the present campaign," said the Drumahoe boss.
"But winning the league isn't our aim. We want to try and finish mid-table or better.
"We are buzzing right now, and we cannot wait for the season to start. So it's all system go."
Institute were relegated in 2006, but shot up again last season after not only winning the First Division title, but also collecting the Carnegie League Cup.
Beckett was hit with a number of defections during the summer, but he believes he has some promising young players to call upon.
"We lost a lot of quality during the summer, but we have gathered a good, young squad that I believe is capable of doing well," said Beckett.
"Last season is history. We now have a very tough assignment this campaign which is to get into the new Invitation League."
