Linfield made sure of finishing top of Group A when they beat a disappointing Ballymena at the Showgrounds. The United defence paid for not picking up Peter Thompson as he pounced to score a close-range header from Damien Curran's free in the 10th minute.
Glenn Ferguson made it two with a header just before half-time following Mark Dickson's deflected cross.
Substitute Tim Mouncey nipped in for a third on 69 minutes to make it three away wins out of three for the Blues.
Linfield defender Pat McShane cleared off the line from Albert Watson while Thompson missed a great chance to score again.
Ballymena have failed to register a win in their last 10 matches against Linfield.
