The County Antrim Shield is to be played earlier in the season than in previous years, with the competition now being completed by late October. The first round games will be played on Tuesday 28 August and the second round games two weeks later on 11 September.
The quarter-finals have been arranged for 2 and 3 October with the final on Tuesday 30 October.
The move has been made to avoid fixture congestion later in the season when the Setanta Cup gets into full swing.
Cliftonville are the current holders of the Shield, having beaten Lisburn Distillery 2-1 at the Oval in January.
