Jonny Evans was on loan at Sunderland since January |
Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans is to return to Manchester United after completing a loan spell at Sunderland. The full-back helped Roy Keane's side earn promotion to the Premiership and won a Championship winners' medal.
"I have spoken to Sir Alex Ferguson and he has told me he wants me back next year. I think he is bringing back all the players who were on loan," he said.
"The manager says if we are good enough to challenge the first team players then he will play us," added Evans.
"We all respect that and we know that if you want to play for a club like Manchester United, then you have to play to a high standard every week."
The 19-year-old made his debut for Northern Ireland in the 3-2 Euro 2008 qualifier win over Spain at Windsor Park last September.
