Garth Scates scored the equaliser for Ballymena United |
Ballymena failed in their attempt to finish in the top half of the Carnegie Premier League as they were held at home by Newry in their final fixture. Newry, seeking to end a run of four defeats, went into a 23rd-minute lead when James Willis found the net.
Gerry Flynn's men held that advantage until the 74th minute when Ballymena's Garth Scates spotted Andy Coleman off his line and deftly lobbed the keeper.
The draw left Ballymena in ninth place with Newry finishing 12th.
