Pat McCourt skips past Pat McShane at the Brandywell |
Linfield came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Derry City in Monday night's Setanta Cup Group One match at the Brandywell. Gary Beckett put Derry ahead with a right foot shot in the 35th minute and Pat McCourt made it 2-0 by firing the ball past Gregg Shannon on 60 minutes.
Aidan O'Kane headed in a Glenn Ferguson cross after 74 minutes and Mark Dickson grabbed the equaliser on 85 minutes.
Dickson knocked the ball past Pat Jennings and the ball found the net.
Ruairdhi Higgins fired over from a McCourt cross for the Candystripes early in the game when he should have done better.
Beckett then shot wide with just Shannon to beat after meeting McCourt's pinpoint cross but the striker made no mistake ten minutes from the break.
The Blues came more into the game in the second half and Paul McAreavey posted their intentions by hitting the bar with a left-foot piledriver four minutes after the restart.
Shannon produced a fine save to deny Beckett before McCourt beat Noel Bailie and placed a right foot shot into the corner of the net.
O'Kane pulled one back and then Dickson's shot just trundled over the line to level the game.
Oran Kearney almost secured the points in the final minute but Jennings turned away his powerful shot.
