Crusaders defender Jeff Spiers has announced that he is to retire from playing at the end of the season. Spiers, who played in the Irish League for 20 years, is to take up a coaching role with the Crues in the summer.
He had 11 seasons at Linfield, gaining two league medals and playing in two winning teams in irish Cup finals.
"Jeff has been a wonderful servant to the game. We have agreed that he will join our management structure," said Cruaders manager Stephen Baxter.
During his time at Linfield, Spiers played under managers Roy Coyle, Eric Bowyer, Trevor Anderson and David Jeffrey.
He then had a spell with Glenavon before joining Crusaders six years ago.
