Newry City want Gerry Flynn to take over as their coach |
Donegal Celtic have blocked defender Gerry Flynn's move to become Newry City's new head coach. Celtic manager Paddy Kelly is furious that news of Flynn's appointment was leaked ahead of Friday's league match between the two clubs.
The west Belfast club are now demanding 5,000 for Flynn or a player exchange involving Newry's Kevin Keegan.
"Gerry Flynn is going nowhere until we reach an agreement with Newry City over his transfer," said Kelly.
"We did the right thing in allowing Newry to talk to Gerry, but under an agreement that any appointment was not made public until Saturday morning."
Flynn, is a former Newry player and has also played for Coleraine, Cliftonville and Donegal Celtic.
In announcing his appointment, Newry said he would not take charge until after Friday's rearranged league match at Celtic Park.
