John Martin fired an 87th minute winner past Davy O'Hare from eight yards to book Coleraine's sixth round passage. The Whites opened the scoring on 15 minutes through a Conor Hagan penalty after a handball inside the area.
Philip Matthews punched the ball into his own net from Darren Cassidy's cross on 44 minutes to put Coleraine level.
Davy Patton and Damien Whitehead hit the woodwork in the second half and after Martin's strike, Patton and Carson went close for the Bannsiders.
Carson's effort was brilliantly saved by Matthews in added time.
