Peter Hutton embraces Stephen Kenny after an emotional afternoon |
Derry skipper Peter Hutton said he was delighted to win the FAI Cup for departing manager Stephen Kenny. "He is a young ambitious manager and we respect his decision to move on but it is great to finish his reign like this.
"It was a great game played in terrible conditions and I am gutted for St Pat's as both teams tried to play football.
"In the end there had to be a winner and thankfully it was us. We showed our resilience once again and deserved to finish the season on a high."
"We have shown our character all season and it took that never say die attitude again to cone from behind three times.

"The fans own this club really, they are exceptional and came out in their droves again."
Manager Stephen Kenny added that the players deserved huge credit for securing such a tremendous win in his last game in charge.
"St Pat's were fantastic but it was a great effort by my players in atrocious conditions in what was a classic final.
"There is great belief in the side and to rally like we did shows the outstanding spirit in this group.
"I am so proud of the young players and Peter Hutton inspired the whole team and led by example."
