A Gary McCutcheon brace gave Portadown their first Carnegie Premier League win of the campaign. Martin Ferry, Vincent Sweeney and Stephen Parkhouse wasted good chances for United in the first half.
Sweeney broke the deadlock on 53 minutes with a drilled shot past keeper Kevin Pressman.
McCutcheon pounced on a mistake by keeper Michael Doherty to level after 67 minutes and a cool finish eight minutes later gave the Ports victory.
