Sean Hargan goes for high ball with Drogheda's Gavin Whelan |
Title contenders Derry City suffered their first home defeat of the season as Drogheda United claimed full points at the Brandywell on Tuesday. Derry went behind on 49 minutes when keeper David Forde diverted into his own net from a Paul Keegan corner.
But Derry hit back just a minute later with an equaliser from Ciaran Martyn.
However, Sami Ristila netted United's winner nine minutes from the end, taking the ball round keeper Forde after Shane Barrett had flicked on.
In the first half Derry had a couple of half chances but Kevin McHugh's effort was saved by Dan Connor while City centre-half Darren Kelly headed over from a Peter Hutton free-kick.
In Tuesday's other Premier League match, leaders Shelbourne drew 0-0 away to Longford Town.
