Stephen Kenny was delighted after the Uefa Cup success |
Derry City boss Stephen Kenny praised his team's display after Thursday's 1-0 win over Gothenburg sealed a place in the Uefa Cup second qualifying round. "To win home and away against such a great club like Gothenburg shows the performance of the players was remarkable," he said.
"It was a very composed display and mature for such a young side.
"It is a big shock around Europe. This is not the full extent of our ambitions and hopefully we can progress again."
He added: "It is a great night for the club and it gives the city a lift.
"The people of Derry own Derry City and it is a wonderful occasion for them."
The Eircom League side led 1-0 from the first leg in Sweden a fortnight ago.
Stephen O'Flynn doubled the advantage when he converted a 32nd minute penalty.
