Kenny Shiels guided Larne to Carnegie League safety this season |
Jim Hagan is the new Larne boss after Kenny Shiels stepped down from the job following his appointment as an Irish Football Association county coach. IFA rules prevent the county coaches from managing Carnegie League clubs so Hagan moves up from his assistant's role at Inver Park to replace Shiels.
Shiels said his goodbyes to the players on Wednesday after guiding the club to Carnegie League safety on Saturday.
Hagan previously managed the Inver Park outfit in 1994.
Shiels has been given a three-year contract in the IFA county coaching job.
Hagan's playing career included a spell with Spanish club Celta Vigo and a stint with Birmingham City.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge and I'm hoping to retain the core of last season's team which I believe has a lot of potential, especially as we have so many good young players," said Hagan.
