Referee Adrian McCourt inspected the pitch at Solitude |
The Irish League play-off first leg between Donegal Celtic and Institute has been postponed for a second time. Referee Adrian McCourt inspected the Solitude pitch on Wednesday and said it was unplayable after heavy rain.
The match has been rescheduled for Friday night, again at the Cliftonville venue, at 2000 BST while the second leg at Drumahoe will be on Wednesday.
Donegal Celtic were runners-up in the First Division while Institute were second-bottom in the Carnegie League.
Institute manager Liam Beckett suggested it might be time to find an alternative to Solitude for the first leg.
"I am not criticising the surface at Solitude because I know they have a problem. We have the same at Drumahoe in that our pitch is not very receptive to heavy rain.
"The forecast is for more heavy rain towards the weekend.
"I do not know if the Oval or Seaview are available but maybe it is time for a plan B and it might be a chance to get the first leg played up in Belfast."
