Marty Verner scored Glenavon's opening goal |
Glenavon boosted their hopes of avoiding a relegation play-off with this win over their Co Armagh rivals. Marty Verner rounded goalkeeper Paul Rice and tapped the ball home for his 17th goal of the season on 28 minutes.
The Lurgan Blues extended their lead on 77 minutes when Thomas McGauley diverted the ball past his own keeper from Verner's cross.
Conor Walsh beat Rice with the aid of a deflection after 79 and added another with a cool finish in stoppage time.
Glenavon did all the attacking in the first half and Walsh, David McAlinden, Kieran O'Connor and Gerard McMahon were all denied by Rice.
Central defender McGauley was unfortunate with the second before Walsh's late brace.
