Paul Brown of Ballymena and Crusaders' Stephen McBride were sent-off late in this scoreless draw at the Showgrounds. Brown was dismissed after a tangle on 77 minutes and McBride followed on 87 after kicking out at Dominic Melly.
The Crues had the best chances with Davy Larmour, Chris Morrow, Darren Stirling and Colin Coates going close.
Ballymena keeper Paul Murphy made some fine saves while Melly and Kevin Kelbie had late chances to secure a win which their side would hardly have deserved.
Larmour's fifth minute shot came off the bar and Morrow could only find the sidenetting from the rebound.
Larmour missed several other chances, with Murphy saving one and the former Portadown stopper also denied Stirling, who was wide with another effort.
