Goals from Michael Halliday and Gary Hamilton helped Glentoran get their domestic season off to a winning start. The strike pair and Kyle Neill went close before Halliday scrambled the ball home in a crowded penalty area for the opener after 40 minutes.
On 53 minutes Hamilton saw his lob come off the bar but controlled the ball and tucked away the rebound for number two.
John Guy had a second half chance for Loughgall while Hamilton had an effort cleared off the line for the Glens.
Hamilton headed wide from a Neill free-kick on just six minutes and Neill was then denied by a fine save from Marc Robinson.
Robinson kept out a Hamilton header and also made two good stops from Halliday before the Glens broke the deadlock and went on to win comfortably.
